SALT LAKE CITY — There’s a new piece of art hanging in the lobby of the University of Utah Hospital made up of items that you could have ties to and not even know.
The project has been twenty months in the making. It all started when anesthesiologist Dr. Emily Hagn received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in December 2020.

Utah doctor collects mementos for art piece to memorialize COVID-19 pandemic
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A University of Utah doctor is using art to memorialize the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Project Art Heals is a collaborative mosaic art piece that uses some unlikely materials. The goal of the project is that everyone can mourn the losses of COVID-19 and honor our resilience together.
“The more people that participate, it creates even more meaning about our separate individual and our shared journeys,” said Dr. Emily Hagn, who works in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Utah.
